"Ang buhay ay parang gulong... minsan nasa taas... minsan... nasa vulcanizing shop", a friend of mine would say. I'd say life is a journey into the unknown; a journey with a lot of givens yet what is required remains oblivious to most of us. Not all givens are useful. They could just be there to distract you from the real focus, a mathematics professor once tipped me.
The beauty of contrast: To the artist, it may be how the colors compete for attention. To the blind, it may be the unique sound of footsteps that tells him he is home. To the seeker, it is that sparkt in the dark that signals he is bound to find some treasure there. It is with contrast that we know what stands out from the dull rest. It is with contrast that we affirm what we really want in life. We all seek for something that is unique; not something our next door neighbor has or could have. We all seek our own elusive happiness, which only a few of us ever really find. You get what you settle for.
