Blue Eyes Blue
Eric Clapton

I thought that you'd be loving me.
I thought you were the one who'd stay forever.
But now forever's come and gone
And I'm still here alone.

'Cause you were only playing,
You were only playing with my heart.
I was never waiting,
I was never waiting for the tears to start.

Chorus:
It was you who put the clouds around me.
It was you who made the tears fall down.
It was you who broke my heart in pieces.
It was you, it was you who made my blue eyes blue.
Oh, I never should have trusted you.

I thought that I'd be all you need.
In your eyes I thought I saw my heaven.
And now my heaven's gone away
And I'm out in the cold.

'Cause you had me believing,
You had me believing in a lie.
Guess I couldn't see it,
I guess I couldn't see it till I saw goodbye.

Chorus

'Cause you were only playing,
You were only playing with my heart.
I was never waiting,
I was never waiting for the tears to start.

It was you who put the clouds around me.
It was you.

Chorus

Oh, I never should have trusted you.
Oh, I never should have trusted you.
Oh, I never should have trusted you.

I enjoyed a free period throughout my HIST17 class. The teacher just asked us to read 5 chapters of the book for the whole period. I already did advanced reading on those 5 chapters, so I just went out of the classroom and helped a bit in the decoration of the AVR for today's CompE interschool quizbowl entitled "Battle of The Titans". The decor colors were red and blue. I guess Superman's colors are everywhere. Smallville... Smallville... Smallville. Stanley did an amazing feat with the hanging of the banners. Goes to show how creative engineers could get. I went back to class in time for checking of attendance. Hehe...

Went back to the AVR again to help them finish the job. Mercy arrived and we got into some serious conversation. Went afterwards to Julies Bakeshop on errands from Mitch. Mercy was sweet enough to accompany me to buy bread and juice for the council officers' snacks.

Attended my 10:30 class. Had an exam. Aced it and finished in 10 minutes, so I went back to AVR to watch USC, CIT and UC go head to head in the quiz bowl. UC won 1st place with 46 points. CIT followed with 41 and USC... our alma mater 3rd... and last... with 40 points. I think I'm gonna transfer to UC. Hmmm...

After the quizbowl, we removed the decors and I went to the canteen to make tambay. No one I know was there, so I made tambay at VOT office from 12NN to 2PM. I was busy talking to the paper's EIC Menger John Pino and got some insights about the school paper I'll be working for. My application into the VOT staff has been accepted!

Met up with Adrian at the canteen. Talked stuff with him and Walter then we left the canteen together for our 3:00 classes. After our 1 and a half-hour class, we met up at the canteen and guess what happened? Almost every Sacred Hearter from our batch studying at USC was there Jose, Lemuel, Patrick, Walter, Adrian and I. We sort of had a mini-reunion. Funny how circumstances bring people together. The only sa-ag there was Jed, who didn't belong to batch '99. People there were just exchanging files across their PDA's. Someone got introduced to Party Girl.

Patrick and I rode on a jeep to Ayala. He helped me shop for a digital camera. Saw a 9,600 and a 23,900 camera. Both are nice, but I kinda like the more expensive one, because its features put more value to your money. Brought mum to take a look at the 2 cameras and she'll decide tomorrow. Hope it's the one I have in mind.

I'm listening now to Gary's CDs. Nice, soothing music... love Eric Clapton's Blue Eyes Blue.

Classes just resumed today. Spent my morning at the canteen with Luis Oquias talking about DLSU... its people, faculty, facilities and environment. I have plans to take up a masters degree in Computer Science at De La Salle University after graduating from USC. Well, it's still a plan and so many things could happen in 2 years' time.

Helped Joy with a few word pronunciations for her speech class, then talked to her about last night's incident where I became Clark Kent for a second or so. I have finally seen adrenalin power at work. I had so many problems today regarding money matters. First it was my internet bill, which was erroneously computed by PhilWeb. Instead of paying 1600, I was able to rectify the error and instead will pay only 990. Saved 610 bucks on that. Then I had this problem regarding my cell phone bill, which my mum considered too high for a student like me. How much do you pay for your monthly bills? My bill was just 600+, and mum was ranting all about it and to think most people I know have bills 1 thou and up.

Had lunch at Avalon where Adrian was blogging. We checked out some emails, and I'll be posting below one of the emails Adrian got. Did some surveying with Jed, Walter and Jose Gochangco at a proposed site for a new USC-TC dormitory. Went back to the canteen where I met She^. She was at TC to support Gloria Fukagawa in her electoral campaign for SSC Councilor... and of course to be with her Rico. Adrian, She^ and I were busy talking about... a certain *tooooot project. Nyahahaha... Adrian is now a full-fledged CIA agent.

I was fetched by my mum and we went to buy groceries at Makro. My arms still hurt from yesterday's workout and I had to carry boxes of canned softdrinks. I guess that could pass for a workout. Watched the store at Ayala for 2 hours, then drove home. Sorry I wasn't able to help Tot, Apple_Pay and Plum with the CompE decorations. I had to be with my mum today because of the little "Smallville" incident last night. So till here. Enjoy today's feature.

This morning, I was busy doing a photo shoot of the products of our store. Mickie's mum then came in to buy a half chicken meal. She saw what I was doing and suggested to my mum that we buy a digital camera. Finally, someone has talked my mum into buying one. A million thanks to Mickie's mum. Now, I won't need to have pictures scanned just to get them into my PC. Almost everyone I know is already using digital cameras, and here I am still stuck with buying films and all. After the photo shoot, mum asked me to shop for one. As I went around the shops in Ayala, I noticed that digicams are rather expensive (price ranges from 9K to 36K). So I must be choosy when it comes to buying one. I have to consider image quality (in megapixels), memory storage (8-64MB), zoom capability (optical/effective 2X, 3X, etc.) and durability (material, aesthetics and brand). I have to consult Patrick regarding this, since he's the expert. Another gadget off my wish list. Yipee! Next, a CD Writer, a scanner, a PDA, a laptop, a car... Hehe.

I didn't have plans for the afternoon and neither did I want to do the usual "walk aimlessly around the mall" routine, so I decided to go to City Sports Club and do something productive for a change. I went to the gym and found myself back to the habit of working out. The last time I lifted weights (almost a year ago), I could lift 90 lbs. Today, I could barely carry 60. Just see how fast strength dwindles with time. After my usual workout routine (triceps, bench press, biceps, deltoids), I found out that the gym now has a punching bag. What better way to release all that... that... that... argh... stress... than to clobber the punching bag! I guess I must have thrown over a hundred punches and kicks at the poor bag. Sad to say, it didn't feel a thing. Instead, my knuckles got hurt and they slightly got wounded from the pressure of the impact. I have to wear a pair of gloves next time. So John's back to his workout habits. Hope that he'll be able to keep the momentum going this time.

Hafta go now and rest, 'coz I've got this strange feeling that I'm gonna wake up tomorrow feeling as if I were just clobbered by madmen... with muscle pain all over, backache, headache and all other ache-aches.

No classes today, but that didn't spare me from waking up early. I woke up at 7:00 to be at Julies Bakeshop by 7:30 to 8:00 for our CompE Council outreach program. When I arrived, there were only 3 of us. So while waiting for the rest, we packed our giveaways for the kids of Pari-an. Tot arrived 8+, and so did Mitch a bit sooner. We made a stopover at StarMart to wait for Apple_Pay and the others. After, we headed for the drop-in center at Pari-an. This center for street kids is a project of Margot Osmea's Task Force on Street Children.

When we arrived at the place, we met the little kids who were mostly aged 5 to 12. Plum made the opening prayer. After the prayer, something caught my eyes. I was fixated on a few notes posted on the wall. These notes listed the wishes of the kids. The wishes ranged from toys to clothes to finishing their studies to finally meet their parents to a land on good job someday, etc. As I read through their wishes, I thought of my own. I saw how simple their wishes were as compared to my wish list. I could say that in my life, the things they wished for have all been provided to me. I have a good education, a family, a home to call my own, clothes (with accessories pa), toys (when I was a kind, I had closets of them) and much more. To those kids, perhaps their life would be complete if those simple wishes were answered. And here I am, having more than simple pleasures, still discontented. For a brief moment there, I counted my blessings and thanked the Lord for them. If I had millions in the bank, I would have answered their wishes right there and then. Maybe the opportunity will return sometime in the future when money already grows in my backyard.

So after reading every note on the wall, I went back to participate in the activity. I found myself busy talking to a little kid named Ramon. His birthday will be tomorrow and he was asking how I knew about it. Well, his name was posted on the announcement board at the courtyard, which I was able to read in my wanderings around the area. So, I made a friend of that birthday boy. The kids performed a dance number and danced to the tune of Asereje. Impressive moves they got. Makes me wonder if they've been practicing their grooves for months. Hehe... I then joined the kids in the parlor games we organized for them. The kids played Trip to Jerusalem, Newspaper Dance and Statue Dance. Plum, especially Tot were so harsh. They kept on distracting the kids, so the kids would laugh or make a move, which would disqualify them. Speaking of Tot, she has a new nickname. Aside from the usual: Maia, Maiatot, Tot, Toty Froty, Mangkay, Mangks, Fish atbp., the kids coined her Kris Aquino. Bwahahaha... showbiz! Looks like someone's been giving away autographs.... *ahem. We then distributed prizes, candies and finally their snacks.

A diva sang music to our ears. I'm talking about Apple_Pay. It was the first time I heard her sing a song from start to finish. She sang HEAVEN by DJ Sammy. Tot was teasing me about the song, but honestly, I no longer hate it. I have once again found beauty in the song. It may have once brought back sad memories of **n**, but now they bring forth wonderful memories... memories of a songbird who just dedicated that song to me.

After that wonderful song interlude, we left the place. Some kids were asking if we'd come back. Honestly, I wasn't able to reply to their Q. I was dropped off at Ayala. Watched the store till mum arrived. We then left Ayala for dads altar at our commissary. There, we made offerings to my dad, since today's his death anniversary. 4 years since that fateful day. I could say I still do feel the aftermath of it. Just see how fast time flies by.

We then ate at The Nook at City Sports Club. It's a new resto near Ma-yi. The place used to be the business center, but they changed it to a resto, which serves Ma-yi dishes, but does not require Ma-yis strict dress code.

Went to Ayala after lunch and met up with Adrian, Jed and Melvs. We were supposed to watch a movie, but it seems Adrian and Melvs couldn't decide on one. It's either Melvs has seen the flick, and Adrian didn't want to see it again and vice versa. Jed and I had no comment, since we both haven't seen any of the flicks. Jed was not in for movies too, since he was kinda hungry. Verdict: We all went to Ratsky. Adrian and Jed ate their 99 eat all you can. Melvs and I just sat and watched them. Soon, all four of us were talking about the unresolved issue on courting Filipinas VS courting Chinese. I don't wanna include the details in this blog, lest I wanna rekindle a verbal war.

We stayed the whole afternoon at Ratsky and then split up by 5. Adrian went with his mum, Jed rode with Melvs who offered to give him a ride home. As for me, I went to our store and we left for Sacred Heart Church to attend the 6:00 mass offered for my dad. Kar, I met your Aunt Shirley... I think she's the sister of your mum. She asked me if I knew you. She even gave your complete name. Hehehe... Of course, I told her I know you.

So after the mass, we passed by Ayala to get some food for dinner. On the way home, I almost got all of us in the car killed. I was near Grand Con when suddenly, without any warning, an ERUF ambulance from the opposite lane swerved to my lane. I only saw lights, but no sound of a horn or a siren. I immediately swerved to the sidewalk and thought the incident was over. To my surprise, a fire truck was following the ambulance and was running at top speed, so I had to swerve once again. My left leg (controlling the clutch) numbed out and my right leg was hard on the brakes. I had to park the car for a while so I could recover from the shock. I guess driving experience does pay off. My mum kept on laughing. And it seems the taxi on the opposite lane was also laughing. Perhaps he saw the whole incident and couldn't help but find humor in my reaction afterwards. Hahaha laugh on!

I continued my drive home as careful, but as fast as I could. I could barely stand a minute on the road. Now I'm safe and sound at home. Just ate dinner with some relatives who came over to celebrate my dad's anniversary. I'm now in my room blogging to release all that unnecessary tension. Have to go and watch TV to relax for a while, and then pay dreamland a visit. Good night peeps!

I didn't do much today, so I barely have anything to blog about. Just did some quick fix on Adrian's site and was thinking of ways to improve my site. I wanna make the site more appealing - with more pictures and interactive graphics and links. Sad to say, I'm zero when it comes to designing websites. I can edit from a template, but to overhaul...like from scratch... I really can't. I'm experimenting with FlashMX, but I guess Flash sites take so much time to open, especially for dial-up subscribers. Maybe after taking some webdev summer courses, I can make this site speak more of my personality. This will have to do for now.

I'm home alone right now. Opted to stay home rather than go to the mall... milagro. A while ago, I was busy scurrying around the house in search for interesting stuff to post in this blog. Perhaps an informative features article from the newspaper would do fine, but I found none. So I went to my shelves of books to look for some interesting topics. So I found one.

It's entitled Rich Dad, Poor Dad authored by Robert Kiyosaki. This book is part of a series of books like Cashflow Quadrant, etc. At our age, I guess Rich Dad, Poor Dad would suffice. I encourage all of you, especially the guys, to read this book... since we, guys, are the breadwinners of the family. The gals can also read it. It wouldn't hurt to know more about money. Why read it?... Well, the book itself points out that schools/colleges/universities only teach us so little about money, such that when we're out on our own, we lack skills in managing money matters. Educational institutions only teach us theories on how to compute, analyze and speculate, but the twists and turns of money are usually learned after we graduate. Most of these lessons of which are often learned the hard and painful way. Wouldn't it be wonderful to know the traps and common pitfalls ahead before you fall to them?

I experimented on some of the techniques taught in the book. It was something about savings. I used to keep coins in a piggy bank. Now I expanded that piggy bank into a savings bank account. And soon that bank account could be transformed into any whim I wish for. It will take a long time for that to happen, but it would certainly take longer if I hadn't learned the traps from this very educational book. So read on. You can visit their site at: www.richdad.com.

Spent my entire Saturday afternoon at Ayala with Adrian and Jed. I thought I was going to spend the afternoon alone at Ayala, since both of them had plans to spend the afternoon at Karen's place. Well, surprise surprise. The two dum-dums saw me by the window at Guess where I was busy looking for some tees. I was so serious about choosing the shirts, such that I didn't notice the 2 kalogs making all sorts of faces and signals by the window. I walked out of Guess and made a few rounds around the mall, then I phoned Adrian to ask whether they'd change their plans and instead pay the mall a visit. Adrian, on the phone, said that they were already at Ayala, but were watching a movie with Michael Tee. The background was too noisy for a movie house, but I just ignored it and thought that perhaps the movie house was full of teens who usually watch the 1:00 to 3:00 shows. So on I went walking around the mall. I then saw Michael Tee, so I knew that something fishy was going on. Next thing I know, I saw Adrian and Jed seated near Levi's. When they saw I noticed them, they were laughing their hearts out. I could barely see Jed's eyes and Adrian's mouth was as wide open as a toooot. They told me everything from the moment they saw me at Guess to the phone call I made... that they were following me around, but I never noticed them. Hahay... 4 eyes na pero kulang pa jud. Na sulud jud ko sa (gamay nga) bulsa! Argh! What a nasty prank. They'll pay for this. Hehehe... jaz kidng.

So I just sat with them at the T-junction linking Bo's, Giordano and Levi's. I kept on suggesting that we go some place to eat or just walk around, but the 2 were so lazy to move. The only thing moving was their eyes... rolling from one corner to the other... checking every chick out. Hehehe... I did some look here, look there, but didn't find any that fit my type. Some were too old, others were like... high school!..., some this and some that. Is this world running out of ideal prospects or am I just picky? Maybe the good ones are those who just stay at home. How am I supposed to get to know them that way? Well, there's the difference between JUST looking and looking FOR. Won't cross that line. Just looking would do fine for now.

Anyway, enough of women from Venus. Met Melvs and the rest of his IT classmates. He said they just came from an exam. After a few minutes, Adrian's stomach was growling so we went to Taco's where Adrian and Jed had the usual quesadillas. I didn't have my appetite set on any TexMex food, so I just bought a Pandelicious adobo sandwich at the nearby stall. Karen then replied to Adrian's text, so Jed and Adrian left the mall for her house. I didn't join them 'coz it was nearing 6:00 already and it's usually the time we leave the mall on Saturdays. So we split ways. Saw Mary Ann at the Ayala Discount Plus Booth where she was having some points encoded. Just greeted her and went to Rustan's where my mum was buying some tupperwares for our store. Helped her shop for them and after our quick shopping, we left Ayala for Patio Isabel where we had their No-Leftover-Eat-All-You-Can Dinner Buffet for only 135 bucks. I ate 3 platefuls of their Kare-kare, bagoong rice, garlic chicken, daing na bangus and Maja Blanca for dessert, plus bottomless iced tea. Considering the cheap price and the yummy food, very SULIT! Another pig out for me again. Still I stay slim. Hehehe...

'Til the next post. Have to continue watching the Smallville episodes. See you around!

Woke up so late this morning after sleeping so late last night...errr morning. Finished episodes 1 to 5 last night at around 3:30AM. When I woke up, first thing I did was turn on my PC and watched episodes 6 and 7. Hehehe... The story really captivated me. Girls like Lana are a rarity these days. How I wish I'd find someone like her... like someone who could just speak her mind to me without fearing what I'd prolly say about her... like someone who could just be herself whenever she's around me. It's nice when people are that open and so honest about each other. I guess I haven't found one yet, 'coz maybe it only exists in movies, TV series and fairytales. I really couldn't tell.

Anyway, school was quite a bore today. We didn't have regular 12:30 classes, since our teacher was still attending a CompE faculty meeting. Our 1:30-4:30 laboratory class was also a dragging one. Our teacher left us to experiment on a program, which would normally take us 15 minutes to finish, but his time allowance of 3 hours was just too exaggerated. So we ended up playing TextTwist in our computers. Had fun with unscrambling some letters to form words.

At 4:30, I attended our CompE Council meeting. It was attended by other officers like Maia, Mitch, Vanessa, I-Pay, etc. We just finalized plans for CompE Week, which will already be happening next week.

I then attended my 6:00 ECE class. Finally, I was able to conduct the lecture on FET Biasing. Explained it really well and gave the class a seatwork to do, which I collected at the end of the class for checking. Now I know how it feels like to be a college professor. I have over 50 test papers to check over the long 4-day weekend. No classes on Monday - Cebu Charter Day. No classes too on Tuesday - Commemoration of EDSA 1986.

Have to go now, 'coz I have to catch episodes 8 onwards. Adrian's planning an outing tomorrow. Join us then! We'll prolly be watching a movie then gimik after...

Thursday, February 20, 2003

I never knew my post yesterday was longer than the one I posted the other day about Plum's question. So I'll make today's post shorter, 'coz my day today was a simple one. Went to school early...like 6:45AM. Had to cram (for the first time) for my HIST 17 class. Remember me saying that I had to read 70 pages of Rizal? Guess what happened?... I slept after reading 20+ pages. When I woke up, I realized that I had slept even before finishing my readings. I had to rush to school to study. Didn't want to study at home to avoid rushing to school late and end up gasping for breath while taking the exam. I studied at the canteen, while enjoying the cool, fresh morning breeze. I was only able to read till the 60th page. The rest I left all to fate.

Clock struck 7:30... exam time. The test put all my efforts to shame. I never like it when the teacher makes you study so much, and then gives an exam that does not really measure how detailed your studying was. Anyway, history is history. Helped my seatmate... my partner in crime... and vice versa. Hehehe... I guess a little help won't hurt, just don't get caught doing it.

Made tambay again at VOT Office. Mercy was there with Tot and Plum. Talked much about *toot. Hope no one tripped and fell. Hehehe... Just a side comment, why aren't people updating their sites lately?

Attended my classes, pigged out for lunch at the canteen all by myself. Adrian arrived at the canteen by 2:00 and was sporting a new haircut... PAO! Hehehe... He wanted to blog, but something was wrong with Blogger and Tagboard and Flooble. So we went back to the canteen and found ourselves... EATING... again. We were munching on some Dewberry cookies sold in packs at the canteen for 5 bucks. After our 3:30 class, we rode a jeep to Ayala. Split ways at the terminal. I stayed at Ayala for a while to discuss matters regarding CompE Week rentals for Ayala's exhibit area with Juvy Osmea of Ayala's marketing department. 'Twas just a 10 minute conversation and I went back to our store to... EAT... again (snacks). Helped mum with some errands, drove out of Ayala, bought some bread at Leona's, arrived home, wiped clean my entire computer set, had dinner and blogged. So that was my day, have to go since I wanna dedicate the entire night to myself. Wanna simply relax, lie down and finally get to watch the Smallville episodes. Take care!

Today, I was early again in school. Arrived at 7:30 when in fact my first class would still be at 12:30. So you must be thinking, "Okay, another long break with nothing to do. What's new about that?" Well, today was no ordinary day. I just did something that happens once in a blue moon. Even Benny, upon reaching the canteen, said "Milagro! Nag tuon si John Lim!" Yup, he caught me off guard all right. Even Pandi started to do some of his schoolwork upon seeing me keeping busy. I guess I inspired him in some way to be a good student. Hehehe... Anyway, I was early in school solving some transistor biasing problems. Our teacher asked us to solve the FET biasing problems, with matching graphs, on short white bond papers to be submitted not later than 12:00PM today. I was too tired to do it last night. I felt so drained after posting that long blog yesterday. Hehehe... It really took a lot out of me, but it felt good afterwards. I'm glad I was able to share some of my thoughts with all of you. It's a pleasure really.

I was really tired last night that I thought I wouldn't be able to stay awake to watch Smallville. I wasn't able to watch last night's episode. Not because I was sleepy, but I had to drive mum to see the doctor. She was experiencing some pains on her wrist, so had to have her checked up by Dr. Manuel Lim. I admire that doctor. He still holds clinics till 11 and sometimes till 12. He's so rich, doesn't need the money, but I guess he just wants to help. More doctors should be like him.

Back to my day... So I finished solving the problems by 9:00 and I submitted my sheets to the ECE Department to be forwarded to our teacher. Went back to the canteen. Mae Patlingrao was there and we were talking about graduation stuff. Pretty early to be thinking of such things right? Well, it wouldn't hurt to dream once in a while. James Hao-Cuenco and Adrian were also there. The place was getting quiet and I wasn't enjoying much, so I headed to the VOT Office. Toty Froty, Plum and Apple_Pay were there. Plum was busy with some VOT articles and pictures. Tot and Pay were busy cross-stitching. Just watched them stitch time by and I was singing my heart out with the songs played by the computer in the office. Frustrated singer. Blanche was there and we talked stuff. Suddenly, Adrian found his way into the office and told me someone was looking for me. Went to the door and guess who I met??? Melvs Adrian left that instant for his 10:30 class. So did Tot, Plum and Pay. So Melvs and I were just standing outside the office and talked about some things. Mostly about *you know who. I've learned my lessons well... lessons on how to be firm and strong. Her loss not mine. We then talked about some things Melvs was open enough to share... about family and friends. I guess you've got a side I've never seen before. I guess impressions can change. Thanks for trusting. I guess I could say my family isnt that perfect too. For me, each one has his/her own problems. As to what Melvs said... something about a feeling going away by June this year, well, honestly, as early as now, it's already gone. The heart is a muscle and like all muscles, constant exercise builds it up to be strong, firm and well toned. Melvs was also making kulit asking me about ---t. Sorry, can't tell. I'm sworn to secrecy. =p

Melvs then left for his class. It was nice talking to him. Learned a lot and seen a lot of good in it. I went back to the office... and...AND... I got restless so my itching hands grabbed the thing nearest it, which was the needle of Tot's cross-stitch. I stitched a few strokes, but had to undo some of them 'coz I made an error somewhere near the start. That's it! It's the 2nd time it happened and definitely I'm out when it comes to cross-stitching.

By the way, the power in our house just went out. Fortunately I have my PC connected to a UPS, so hahahaha... I can still blog.

So the time was already 12:30. Tot and the rest of the gang were on their way to Ila Puti for lunch. Tot was a big B.I. asking me to cut my class. I wanted to, but I already cut it last Monday... remember??? So I really had to attend the class. Our teacher arrived 15 minutes late... then she just asked us to take the time off to work on our project. Since I was done with it 2 days ago, I was allowed to leave the class. Wheee!!! There is a God! I then made apas, since I didn't have lunch yet. I ordered, for a change, the Katsuto, a Japanese dish on Ila Puti's menu. Yummm... tender pork on Japanese fried rice, with teriyaki sauce and shiitake mushrooms. Definitely a must try!

Okay, the power's back!

Bill, QP, BM, Plum, Pay, Blanche, Leslie and I were there dining. Jan Rodriguez, the owner of Ila Puti, then came in. He knows we are all bloggers, so he gave us some tips on Java scripting and HTML... not that kind of HTML, Kar! Tot then got her complimentary treat from the management. We all shared the Banana...something. It was a dessert with bananas topped with vanilla ice cream, fine nuts and rice crispies. Yumm... we were pigging out. Hehehe...

Blanche left for her class. So did Bill and QP. Mercy then arrived by Tot's demand. We were talking about...*****... and I mentioned *****'s name in the conversation, forgetting that *****'s cousin was just seated the table next to us. Yikes! Mercy was so harsh! Very harsh! She rubbed my face against the table surface like it was some TRAPO! Everyone was laughing out loud. Bloopers.

We went back to school. The gals had a 2:30 Physics class to catch. Tot had a sudden mood swing and decided to cut her class. Bad! She wouldn't tell me why, so we just went with Blanche and Mercy for a joy ride around Ma. Luisa's Phase 8. We went around to see the wonderful houses on the hills. The best was Arcy Gayatin's log cabin house by the park, which used to be a lake before. Tot kept on asking, "Who lives in this house? In that house?" Hey, dili ko barangay tanod. Joke lang. I had fun. Never knew before that there's a subdivision inside Ma. Luisa. We cam across it after coming to a dead end with two gates leading to an unknown place. We dared not enter and so turned around back, since the time was nearing their 3:30 class already. Passed by Sandtrap for a while to see the driving range, tennis court and pool. Then we disembarked at TC. Went to 265T and met with Adrian. Rode a jeep with him to Ayala and stayed in our store for a while. There was a Bb. Ligaya Contest (Gay Beauty Pageant) going on at the Activity Center. I grossed out at the sight of the ahems, so I just went back to our store. Mum was checking some reports, while I was reading the article Tot asked me to read. Finally I got to read it! It was really a wonderful article. Very practical and full of insights.

After reading the article, I was busy talking to my mum about money and business matters. We then talked about what I'm going to do for this summer. She suggested I either help my Uncle Jerry organize this year's Jaycees Asia Pacific Conference or I enroll in a software programming and web development course. Bright ideas they are indeed, so I have my summer all planned out now. Some weight lifted off my shoulders.

Today was one busy and fun-filled day. I just wish everyday were like today... so full of color! Have to go peeps, 'coz I have 70 pages of Rizal to read, a program assignment to construct, an employee's work schedule to plot for our store and if I have time, maybe a quick sneak peek into the Smallville CDs I just borrowed.

I just got home from school (5:00PM). Rode a jeep to Foodland with Adrian and walked the rest of the way home. Walking home, I recalled the events of the day, and well, my day was just simple. I attended all my classes. Spent some time with Maiatot and Plum at the VOT Office, had lunch with Adrian, Mary Ann and Khalil at Ila Puti, stayed with Adrian at Avalon while he was blogging and that was all. Nothing out of the ordinary. This would make my blog really short, but as I promised yesterday, I'll post something to reply to Plum's question "Differentiate love from infatuation." And yes, Kar I'm a true blue hardcore blogger.

Before I started composing my thoughts regarding the issue, I first checked the dictionary for the meaning of the word INFATUATION. I, for one, believed that such term never existed and that it was just a slang word some people fabricated into their world of vocabularies...like our terms HTML and LLPI. Hehehe... After going through the dictionary, guess what I found?... there is NO such term. The only terms there were INFATUATE and INFATUATED. INFATUATE: verb. to inspire with unreasoning passion or attraction. INFATUATED: adjective. completely carried away by unreasoning passion or attraction. By this definition alone, we could rest our case debating over LOVE VS INFATUATION, 'coz what case is there when one of the proponents does not even exist. But I decided to give the opposition a chance in fairness and sport.

I then looked up the meaning of the 4-letter word that moves both Heaven and Hell, LOVE: noun. strong affection for or attachment to someone. a strong liking for or interest in something a strong, usually passionate, affection for a person of the opposite sex.

Given these definitions, one could say, "It's just info from a dictionary. Why should I care about it? Besides, what matters most is real life." Sad to say, we come up with our own thoughts, yet they are our OWN. The purpose of a language is to unite all people in their understanding, explanations and definitions of everything they feel with all their senses. So no matter how well an argument is defended, the bulk of the weight of the matter goes back to basics, its roots - proper definitions, based on language. That's the power of language. Two words may mean the same, but how, where and when they are used makes a difference in the message they deliver and the emotions they stir. Isn't language wonderful?

Setting aside the defense of language, I'll go straight to the issue. Though the term INFATUATION does not exist, let's say it does and let's define it as we have understood it to mean. Both terms, LOVE and INFATUATION, begin with ATTRACTION as its first and basic step. It is the foundation with which both feelings are sparked. It then goes through a process called ATTACHMENT. This is the "getting to know you" part, where some of us do a lot of asking around as if a research is being conducted, following the "target" wherever he/she may be, talking about common likes and dislikes and so on. After much evaluation, it then comes down to the stage of MAKING A DECISION (Drum roll, please!). For men: To pursue or not to pursue, that is the question. For women: Chances are? (Is that your final answer?)

Next paragraph. What happens next? This is the part where we make distinction between LOVE and "INFATUATION" (note: in quotation marks). If everything goes well, if the answer is "YES" or any derivative thereof, then CONGRATULATIONS! It's a match. It may or may not last, but it all depends upon how you keep the flame burning. The hardest part is to make a spark and enkindle the flame. Once it burns, all you need to do is find fuel to keep it burning.

BUT, big BUT, what happens if it doesn't go the way you hoped it would be? What if you got "BUSTED!" or if he/she DUMPS you for some reason, no reason at all, for someone, or for no one? The feelings stirred in your heart at that heart-wrenching moment draws the line between LOVE and INFATUATION. As one friend of mine stated in an email, "In order to forget our feelings in an infatuated romantic relationship, all we need to do is cover our ears and move on. But when it's love, all you need to do is close your eyes and from there, you'll realize that no matter how you want to close your eyes, they just refuse to and all that the heart could give is a drop of tear." Very profound and deep in meaning.

I cringe every time someone tells me it's INFATUATION if a guy/girl gets on with his/her life... like when the guy looks for someone new and the girl opens herself to other prospects. I know there should be a stage where' were supposed to whine and sob like there's no tomorrow, but like with all storms comes the calming light of day. Like fairytales, all plots come to an end. It's sad to note that some are too immature to think so narrow-mindedly. What do they expect? That the guy/girl should sulk a lifetime over something lost like some baby crying over spilt milk? Life goes on whether we like it or not. Life is unfair... sometimes. It has it's ups and downs. It has joys, sorrows and misfortunes. Live with it! The mark of a great individual is not measured on how far and hard he/she falls. It's how he/she struggles to get up from the fall, brush off the dust and soar like a phoenix upon the ashes. Allow me to quote some lines in Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's poem, The Psalm of Life. The verses go: Let the dead Past bury its dead! Act, act in the living Present! Heart within, and God o'erhead! The full text I shall encode at the end of this post.

So I guess I've set their similarities and differences. Take note that only YOU and YOU ALONE will know whether it's LOVE or "INFATUATION". No one other than YOU can determine how YOU truly feel. What others see are only the exterior manifestations. It's just the shell. Only THE SELF will know what it truly feels within. The borderline between LOVE and "INFATUATION" is drawn at that very instant when the object of your affection wrenches your heart. How you felt at that very moment and how you decide to go through the aftermath of it determines which side of the demarcation line you're in.

Felt it before? Now you know. You are entitled to your own opinion. These are just my thoughts and these can be yours for the taking.

Heres a poem I truly love. It inspires even the lowliest of souls. Enjoy!

Psalm of Life
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Tell me not, in mournful numbers,
Life is but an empty dream! --
For the soul is dead that slumbers,
And things are not what they seem.
Life is real! Life is earnest!
And the grave is not its goal;
Dust thou art, to dust returnest,
Was not spoken of the soul.
Not enjoyment, and not sorrow,
Is our destined end or way;
But to act, that each to-morrow
Find us farther than to-day.
Art is long, and Time is fleeting,
And our hearts, though stout and brave,
Still, like muffled drums, are beating
Funeral marches to the grave.
In the world's broad field of battle,
In the bivouac of Life,
Be not like dumb, driven cattle!
Be a hero in the strife!
Trust no Future, howe'er pleasant!
Let the dead Past bury its dead!
Act, -- act in the living Present!
Heart within, and God o'erhead!
Lives of great men all remind us
We can make our lives sublime,
And, departing, leave behind us
Footprints on the sands of time;
Footprints, that perhaps another,
Sailing o'er life's solemn main,
A forlorn and shipwrecked brother,
Seeing, shall take heart again.
Let us, then, be up and doing,
With a heart for any fate;
Still achieving, still pursuing,
Learn to labor and to wait.

This is my second post for the day. I received something through email, which may interest you. Enjoy!

Today I learned how to operate generators to power all sorts of loads. We tried powering 50 light bulbs rated at 100 watts each. I was so happy and proud to have learned such things. I no longer fear entering rooms labeled as "HIGH VOLTAGE, KEEP OUT". I could say I know how everything operates inside. Just don't touch any live terminal or go through any electric fields.

By 9:30, we already finished the experiment, so we were dismissed. Someone was trying to avoid me. I dont know why. Met James Hao-Cuenco and he asked me to edit a letter he wrote for their IE project proposal. Did some revisions and just talked to him for the remaining of the break. At around 11:30, an hour before my next class, Patrick Go and Gerome Camello invited me to join them to do some painting. There's a fair going on in TC and one of the booths lets you paint over a 12"X12"painting area for only 5 pesos. It's actually one big wooden plyboard divided into many squares. The whole plyboard will be displayed in Ayala during the CAFA exhibit during the CAFA Week. So I joined in, mixing some paints here and there to get the desired colors. The paintbrushes provided were not the fine ones, so my painting didn't look so good. I was so engrossed in what I was doing, such that I forgot to attend my 12:30 class. /me a bad student. It's my first cut for this semester. It was a good thing that one of my groupmates informed me about what was discussed in the class I missed. My friend even said that our teacher was looking for me and wondered why I was absent. Yikes! I guess shell be asking me for reasons by next meeting. I hope she wont. Our teacher just discussed a few matters and gave us a project which will be due this Friday. No problem, I just finished doing it. For what it's worth, at least I was able to take some time off with some of my high school buddies.

Having missed that class, my break lengthened to 5 and a half hours. Spent all of that time just bumming around at the canteen. Pathetic isn't it. We shot some hoops for a while at the TC Basketball Court with Peter, Lito, Jessie, Edison, Stanley, Pandi and Mark Kintanar. Scored a point, but we were shooed off from the court, since the 3:30 PE class of Sir Batayola was going to use the area. So once again we found ourselves at the canteen doing nothing. The guys were solving some Diff. Eqns. problems, while I was just looking at them solve. Done with their math level already. Miat came along and was talking to Patrick and I, nothing out of the ordinary. We parted ways by 5:45. They went home, while I was being a good student by attending my 6:00 ECE 13 class. Was gonna hold a lecture, but was postponed to Friday, since the previous group was not able to discuss within their allotted time frame.

I'll post a reply to Plum's question regarding Love VS Infatuation sometime tomorrow. This post is long enough and my explanation/reply would definitely make it too long to be readable. So till here. I'm so happy that Fritz will be lending me his Smallville CDs. Can't wait to watch 'em.

Sunday, February 16, 2003

Today was not my usual lax Sunday. It was a very busy Sunday for me. I woke up really late, since I drank quite a lot of white wine last night. Our family was having a special dinner and wine was served. The white wine was still half full. Can't keep wine overnight, since it turns sour and ferments to vinegar the next day. So I took it upon myself to drink the remaining half, so there. Rather take it than waste it. When I woke up, I didn't have a hangover. I never have hangovers no matter how much I drink. I guess I'm spared from it. My doctor must have injected me with a vaccination against it when I was a baby. Hehehe...

So we went to City Sports Club to attend mass. Did some water system change at our commissary, since there was no water running through the pipes. Lots of households in Mabolo didn't have water thanks to the Globe diggings near CFG Banilad. If you guys passed by the area today, you'd see the workers pumping water out of the big hole that they dug. The digging equipment/truck struck a major water pipe and it burst spewing out precious water from MCWD. The courts should sanction Globe Telecom for the countless inconveniences they've caused the public already.

Maiatot texted in to ask me to read a wonderful article in page 21of today's issue of SunStar. I haven't read it yet, since the newspapers from our store will reach home tonight still. That's how late news arrives to this house of ours. I'll read it tonight, 'coz Maia said it's another nice article from the same wonderful writer. Now Ill have something to take the evening off.

I spent my entire Sunday afternoon doing my homework. Wrote 2 engineering laboratory reports for my class tomorrow morning at 7:30. I then had to prepare visual aides for my lecture on "Metal Oxide Semiconductor Field Effect Transistor Biasing". I'll be presenting it tomorrow night during my 6:00 ECE 13 class. I also composed a reaction paper for my HIST 17 class this coming Tuesday. It's a reaction to an article about Rizal entitled, "The Woman Who Could Have Been Mrs. Jose Rizal". Gave a lot of insights about the article and made it really sound so controversial and so thought provoking, such that my teacher would prolly initiate a debate over it once he gets to read the ideas I have written down. Hehehe... I'm very excited as to how my teacher and my classmates would react to it. Did all my schoolwork from 1PM to 7PM. Whew, 6 hours straight! I rarely get this pleasure of doing schoolwork. I don't look like I'm a student anymore 'coz most of the time I spend in school is spent on chitchatting in the canteen - agree? I guess all of you who know me would say AMEN to that. I feel like a student who has graduated already, but has no job yet... like those free lance hippies that just make tambay with their jobless friends at Bo's Coffee Club doing nothing but talk, talk and talk. Hehehe...

I miss the busy schedule I once had at Ateneo. I barely breathed there. I loved it there, but I don't know what made me do stupid things that sent me back to Cebu. Argh! Hehehe... Maybe I should have gone to La Salle instead, but then again I wouldn't have met my nice friends here in Cebu. And by being here, I get to miss the opportunity of befriending some La Sallites too. Hahay, life... so full of choices, if's and but's.

Does anyone out there wanna swap lives with me? Go ahead, I'm offering a free lifeswap. You thought swapping is for simcards only? Hah, guess again! Hehehe... Till here peeps 'coz my philosophical side is starting to get into me. Good night peeps and enjoy your week.

The exam I took this morning was easy, but I was so CARELESS. I forgot Shockley's Formula due to mental block. Instead of [Vgs/Vp]2, I squared only the numerator. Argh! That must have cost me 10 points. So the most I could get is 30 over 40. Plus points anyone? I realized my error when I left the classroom and was scanning through my formulae list. I was mumbling and grumbling all the way to the canteen. Met Jed there. He was busy studying for his carpentry class. As if to add fuel to fire, the radio suddenly played Heaven by DJ Sammy. Argh! Nooohohohohoho Sometimes things just try to tease you and test your patience. I had to leave the canteen, coz I really couldnt stand it. Its so out of tune!!! Yabag!!! I bet Tot is laughing right now reading my comments.

Went to the VOT Office for our school paper orientation. The orientation was supposed to start at 10, but it started at around 12. Super Filipino timedouble the usual 1-hour allowance! While waiting, I was exploring the computer and found 3 mpegs of Smallville. So I watched one episode to kill the time. Watched the episode where Lana tells Clark over the counter, Once you cross that (friendship) line, theres no turning back. Clark replies in a way that made Lana look down and swallow what Clark had to say. We all know Lana likes Clark. Clark likes Lana, but holds back due to her boyfriend, whose name I forgot. Chloe is so insensitive towards Clark, but Clark likes her just the same. Argh! Why do situations like that have to happen. Some people are just meant to be, but the path is long, winding, crooked and full of humps n bumps. I hope Lana and Clark will soon find their way to each others arms. It will be another happy ending that occurs only in the screens. Side comment: Lana is so pretty. Where could I find someone like her?

Anyway, back to the VOT Orientation Plum and Pay were there. The past VOT Editor In Chief, Tyrone TeeHee, oriented us all. We were busy discussing about the highly priced new uniform issue in USC. Hearing the details about the issue, I could really say that the USC administration is very lousy, deceitful and manipulative. And to think they are priests In Nomine Patri et Filli et Espiritu Sancti Amen Lets take it to the streets and RALLY! Theyre planning a walkout one of these days if the issue remains unresolved. I guess well be enjoying more holidays after all. Whee

I rode a jeep to Ayala at around 2. The mall was so full with STRANGERS. I texted Raine Pimentel to ask if she was in the mall. She was at home, but had nothing to do, so she decided to pay the mall a visit and accompany me in my wanderings around the mall. Adrian suddenly texted that he changed plans and was on his way to the mall, so we met up with him at National Bookstore. Randy Dy also joined us, but left after a while. Instead of jamming with his friends, Jed also changed plans and went to Ayala. We saw him all by himself at Coffee Dream, so we joined in. All of us made tambay for a while, left the place and walked a couple of rounds around the mall. We landed at Dessert Factory. Some of Jeds BGE friends were there namely Jana, Judith and Ena. Jed was busy talking to them, while Adrian, Raine and I were seated at a table nearby. Talked for a while, then Adrian had to leave, since his mum was already looking for him. So it was just Raine and I talking about our college life in Manila reminiscing those days at Ateneo and UP Diliman. A group of USC Psyc students called Raine over her cellphone and requested for an interview with her. It took around 20 minutes for the group to arrive at Dessert Factory. Raine will be graduating Mass Comm. this year, will take up her 2nd course in Advertising next year at Diliman, and is currently working part-time in RPNs news casting crew. Cool! My friends are working already and Im just like a bum bumming around. I must really be one lousy, old, rotten potato.

The group arrived. The waitress served my Pasta Carbonara, Raines mashed potatoes and hot chocolate. I felt it wasnt good manners to eat in front of all of them who were conducting an interview, so I moved to Jeds table and mingled in their conversation. I realized that their group and I have common friends. Small world isnt it? Jed left afterwards for 5:30 mass. After the interview, Raine had to leave, since her mum was gonna pick her up a Marriott. She left ahead and after 5 minutes or so, my dear mum called me up saying that we were leaving Ayala for home. So I bid goodbye to my new friends and went up to our store. Drove out of Ayala, stopped by Kaffee Alde to buy some loaves of bread and went straight home. Ate a slice of cantaloupe and decided to blog, since so many things happened already and the days not quite over yet. If I were to blog sometime tonight, prolly youll be reading a two-paged blog already. Hehehe What a day!

Friday, February 14, 2003

My Friday started at exactly 10:00. Woke up really late. Took a refreshing, hot shower then went to school at about 12:00. Attended my 12:30 major class for another oral defense. Volunteered first, so finished way ahead of time. I went to the canteen. Practically everyone was there. Laughed my heart out because of so many bloopers people made. First, Angela mistook F**t for a girl. Bwahahaha...second person already to be fooled, right Jed? Next, Michael Tee was recounting todays 7:30AM incident between Party Girl and Shaun Dy. It was really hilarious, but some part of me felt sorry for the guy. He should have been smart enough to know that acting like some stalker is a big TURN OFF and definitely a big NO NO. Third, Marie gave this very low blow remark against Angela... about Shaun Dy again. Angela got pikon, stood up and made yawyaw trying desperately hard to defend herself. We all laughed, 'coz once you get pikon, surely you've lost the word war. Hehehe... Fourth, Michael Tee didn't get what Adrian had to say. He instead said, "Uyyyy... Shaun and Doa Victorina!". Star of the day: Shaun Dy. I was laughing all afternoon at the canteen. VDay turned out to be one big comedy sitcom for me.

When everyone left for their 2:30 classes, I went to the flower booth of the ChE students. I just helped around by arranging flowers into bouquets...roses (red, yellow and white), chrysanthemums, Malaysian mumps and asters. Wrapped them up around some nice Japanese paper, plastic foil, parchment paper and cloth-type gift wrappers. When the booth was no longer busy, I personally arranged some bouquets to give to some of my chosen friends. By then, the materials were a bit scarce, so I had to make do with what was there. Despite that, the bouquets still looked magnificent. Besides, it's the thought that counts. I hope they liked it.

After doing the floral arrangements, I had the bouquets delivered by service. I then attended our CompE Council meeting. We discussed some matters for our upcoming CompE week. Made a few suggestions on money matters (selling internet prepaid cards) and the rest of the time... I was busy playing Solitaire in the PC and talking to the Doa beside me.

I then attended my ECE class. Wore a maroon polo to get +30 points. My teacher had to single me out among the polo-wearers. I felt uneasy there. I guess he sort of liked my get-up. He said I looked like I was going out on a date immediately after the class. Yeah right! Some date huh like no date at all. Hehehe When we were dismissed at around 7:30, I took a 13C jeep to Ayala. Jeeps can be creepy at night. My first time. Another experience point earned.

Went to our store to help around...AROUND...like from busboy to cashier to cook and back. The place was so busy such that I didn't have dinner till 10:30. When the crowd in our store was tolerable, I paid the Ayala Entertainment Center a visit. Surprisingly, I met Elaine Uy there still dressed in USC uniform. My little "Shobe" was with her all-girl barkada. They just finished watching Ring2 and was joining in the fun at the Entertainment Center. I joined them for a while and left them, since my mum and bro asked me to go back to our store. We left Ayala for Tsai where we had our very late dinner. I stuffed myself with their Beef Salpicao, Tekamaki Shawarma, Minced Lettuce Cups and Roast Duck Wraps. I totally pigged out, ate my heart out and gave a big resounding *burp. Drove home afterwards to find myself in front of my PC posting blog.

This is yet the best Valentines Day I'd ever had. I guess I grew a year OLDER again today. The mere sound of OLDER sends shivers down my spine. I got a lot of insights today, since never had I been out on the night of V-Day. From my jeepney ride to my dinner at Tsai, I saw different scenarios of lovers...dressed casually or dressed to their nines. One couple was fighting in our store and it seemed the girl was pouting throughout dinner. What a sourpuss. There was the usual guys arm over girl's shoulder, girls hand over the guys waist. A bulk of roses and a heavy arm on her shoulder. Poor girlheavy! There was this couple, a Filipina and a foreigner. I wonder if they understood each other's words. Seems like they let the words pass from one ear to the other. There was this couple also who were eating at our right. They hardly spoke a word. Guy was busy texting, while girl was motionlessstaring blankly into thin air like some sculpture. Then there was this couple at our left. They were Chinese in their late twenties and spoke Amoy fluently. The guy gave the girl a beautiful bracelet and they were so happy together. Always smiling, laughing, commenting on the beautiful interiors of the restaurant, talking about happy thoughts, etc. Makes the heart mmmeeelllttt. That was the last romantic sight I saw today, and to me it was definitely the best. I guess the best are always saved for last...just like the cherry above the ice cream. Piece de resistance!

So that was Valentines Day 2003. I stop to ponder. What could be Valentines Day 2004? Perhaps just another day full of hope, yet mysterious in its own way.

Append this to my previous post for today. Just a reply to Adrian's post.

My HIST 17 teacher was trying really hard to make Rizal History interesting for us. He asked us to read a chapter all about Rizal's affairs with women, especially that of Leonor Rivera. It's his so-called Valentine Special for all of us. I read through it already and just got 3 very shallow, but obvious observations. 1.) Rizal had higher goals, which hindered him from commitment. 2.) He was a chickboy. 3.) A torpe chickboy he was. I can't comprehend the idea of someone who is a chickboy at the same time torpe. They certainly don't go in pairs, but somehow Rizal defied the laws of chemistry. No wonder why some call him a genius. Wonderful! (read: Amazing!)

After HIST 17 class, I went to VOT office. Volunteered to help Plum with a poster for VOT. That could pass for my first job as a member of the school paper had only my membership been approved. Too bad, the results will still be out next week. Tot was there just hanging around. 3 of us then went to the canteen and still made tambay. Tot, please stop teasing me about Party Girl. I'm no Party Boy either. She may be smart and definitely has the looks, but don't you think it's too...you know? Surreal! Besides... I'm on abstinence. Maybe Karen should also put a bet on this pot of mine. Kar, it seems the stakes are getting higher with Adrian's bet. Wanna invest and start a new one against me? Maybe your chances of winning are higher with my bet than that of Adrian's. Are you in? Bwahahaha.

At about 10:30, 3 of us split ways. Tot and Plum went somewhere in the Science Bldg. for their class...Physics I guess. Whereas I went to my Eng'g Materials class. Just a couple of formulae added to my ever-growing list. Computations and stuff, but nothing mind-boggling.

Went to Avalon to meet Adrian who was blogging and checking some sites that I'd rather not mention. Hehehe... Went back to TC Canteen and had my lunch. Pandi was there...all set for his trip to Manila tomorrow for...uyyyyyyy...sweet naman...secret pala, sorry. Just pretend you didn't read this part.

Attended my EE16 class. The test was rather difficult. I can't say I'd ace that exam. Well, what's done is done, so I shouldn't worry about it anymore. Took a cab home after the exam. Cooked a bowl of french fries. Added a twist to the regular fries. Instead of salt and pepper, I mixed thyme leaves into the olive oil. Heated the oil mix for a while and baked the frozen fries till they turned golden brown. The taste: Perfumed Fries. C'est Bon! I then composed this blog while munching on the fragrant french fries. Try this recipe and oven-bake it for a healthier snack.

VDay:The town's gonna be painted red all day tomorrow, so why not blend in, right? I'll prolly be in red or any shade of it, just like upholsteries blending in with the wallpaper motif. For those with dates, enjoy your romantic interludes. Make it extra special! For us singles (that includes me), enjoy the sights of lovers and enjoy the company of friends. Having a valentino/valentina or not doesn't necessarily make a difference. Our time will soon come. Besides, there are still more Valentine's Days to celebrate in a lifetime. Perhaps someone out there might just surprise you! So be on the lookout! Keep those eyes wide...open! Take care ya peeps.

I was once again early in school today. I tutored Jan Go for his ES18 Mechanics subject. Good that I still remember how to solve centroids for irregular solids and beams. My teacher when I took ES18 2 years ago, Engr. Seno, taught it really well. So I remembered it quite well as though it were just yesterday. I love it when good teachers are able to "tattoo" the lessons into my memory. Excellent instructors are rare these days.

Spent time doing muni-muni with Mary Ann. She has sore throat, so I hesitated starting a conversation with her. Hand signals and eye signals had to do. Hehehe... I then had lunch with Patrick Lendel, then I attended my 1st class for the day, CompE 41, for another oral defense at 12:30. It was postponed to Friday, so at least I'd be busier this Friday. We were dismissed early, so I went back to the canteen.

Disney invited me for a game of Starcraft, so we played at Global Internet Cafe. I beat him, but Jessie knew my forces were weak from the attack. So he used the same technique as I did with Disney, to defeat me. Argh! My own technique against me. Hehehe... I better practice more. Speaking of practice, I rode on a jeep to Ayala with Adrian who said he'll spend the whole night tonight practicing Starcraft for tomorrow's showdown with Disney and Jessie. Hope we win...*keeps fingers crossed

I'm now home from Ayala. Mum had a splitting headache, so I drove her home, while she reclined on the passenger seat...

...sounds like Stephen Speaks. Speaking of nice songs, Maia was really thoughtful to lend me a very nice tape of hers. It's a collection of soothing love songs entitled "You had me at hello...". I've been listening to it all day...even while composing this blog. I wonder how many times I've played the tape from Side A to Side B and back. "And I can't get it out of my head". I really like this tape. I never knew till today that it was Jann Arden who sang "Insensitive". Liked that song for its meaning... I can relate to it now. Speaking of "tattooed" earlier, the tape's playing "Tattooed On My Mind" by D Sound. I'll post the lyrics at the end of this post. I really like songs like this and those of Swing Out Sisters.

That's all for now 'coz I have to download some MP3's especially the one posted below. Just wanted to post something longer to make up for the 2 short ones I posted. Muchos gracias to Maia, Plum and Apple Pay for their words of wisdom.

Tattooed On My Mind
D Sound

Maybe you soon
Forget about all
Or maybe youll miss it like I do

But one things for sure
Im all knocked out
Spent too much time thinking of you

And I cant get you out of my dreams
Now I know that youre the dangerous kind
And your smile is tattooed on my mind
And I cant get you out of my dreams

Dont wanna write
I dont wanna call
I would not know what to say
It should be you
Thats how I want it to be
Tell me you feel the same way

And I cant get you out of my dreams
Now I know that youre the dangerous kind
And your smile is tattooed on my mind
And I cant get you out of my dreams

Oh, yesterday
I was feeling safe
Oh, I do today
Is trying to be brave
And no melody
Can seem to soothe my mind
And now I curse you
For being so sweet and so kind

And I cant get you out of my dreams
Now I know that youre the dangerous kind
And your smile is tattooed on my mind
And I cant get you out of my dreams

Yes I know youre tattooed
On my mind youre tattooed
(I just wanna feel one more time)

I'm now at Avalon with Adrian... BLOGGING. I just read through Plum's post yesterday. What she had to say was very true...thanks, but I didn't expect that Maia and her had to talk about me outside school. Maybe what's happening to me affects my friends in some way. Well, I give thanks to the Lord for friends who are caring enough to CARE.

After my HIST17 class, I went to VOT office and saw Plum and Maia there. Was busy looking at some wallet photos of Van...interesting. Maia, just looking...not looking FOR. We went to the canteen and met Adrian. He muttered a term, which we officially added to our ever-growing list of vocabularies. The term: HTML. Kar, I guess it came from you, so we all know what it means. Bwahahaha. Have to go and have lunch.

My Uncle Steve, Aunt Eya and Jaymes will be leaving for the land down under tomorrow afternoon. We just came from Rustans to buy some last minute pasalubong. Were now home and having supper. My Uncle Steve and Aunt Eya cooked our dinner. We also ordered some dishes from Grand Majestic. Im enjoying lechon, steak and kangaroo meat. Its very lean, juicy and tastes like beef steakonly better! This is the last night our Aussie relatives will be staying in Cebu. Well all save the emotional stuff for tomorrow.

Nothing much happened today nothing much I wanna talk about.

I just posted blog for Tots sake. I guess this beats yesterdays shortest blog. Have to go now, coz I wanna pass the time by, by watching a VCD Marie lent me. Its a Chinese romance flick City of Glass. Heard of it? Seen it? Well, hope it will make my night pass faster. Good night people.

Went to Shangri-La today. Had lunch at Shang Palace with family. Saw Gail Tochip with her family. They were also dining in the same restaurant. Guess what sprang up in our conversation??? Yup, Shaun Dy again. Hehehe

My Aunt Felisa ordered Shangs Yi Shang (Fish Up!). Its a very unique appetizer, where sweetness, sourness, bitterness, saltiness and spice conjure up to create a perfect balancevery tasty indeed. The ingredients were all neatly placed on a huge plate. The waiter explained the meaning of each ingredient and all of us stood to toss the salmon, ginger, raw papaya, gabi, macadamia nuts, plum sauce, olive oil and carrots and we mixed them all together using chopsticks. It was pure fun. I really enjoyed the very rare and unique experience. You guys should try it if you happen to be dining at Shang.

Stayed in the beach for a while, but we didnt stay long coz my bro had lots of Arki stuff to do, mum was not feeling well and I didnt want to burn my skin beyond recognition either. Hehehe. So I just finished a programming assignment when I reached home. The rest of the timewell, I was just staring blankly into thin air keeping a lot of thoughts circling through my mind.

Went to Ayala at around 8 to help in the store. Bought a Flame It! Cheeseburger. Transferred some of our advertisement standees into key locations at the mall. Drove home with mum and BLOGGED. So thats my day. Guess this is gonna be my shortest blog in weeks. Take care!

Drove to school on a cold Saturday morning. The ECE laboratories gave me the chills since there were only a few of us present for our regular Saturday laboratory classes. This morning's experiment was extra long. Simple but tiring. I finished wiring and testing the amplifier circuits by 10 and went to the VOT office for the interview. The written membership exam for the school paper was held last week, so the interview part was slated for today. It was supposed to start by 8, but I don't know why it started as late as 10:45. The panel was composed of the VOT's current EIC, the past EIC and the current managing editor. The three grilled me with their questions. I kept calm throughout the grilling and though of them not as future bosses, but future comrades. I guess it felt lighter on my part that way. The interview lasted for around 30 minutes. They kept asking me about my experiences in journalism and about my thoughts of activism. I never knew that the school publication was that political in nature.

So much for the interview. I went home at around 11:30 to fetch my mum, bro and lola. We all went to have lunch at Grand Majestic Banilad My Si-ee treated all of us for lunch. The buffet, especially the Peking duck, was truly delectable.

I had to leave the luncheon early, since I still had a 1:00 make-up class to catch. I had my lola's chauffeur drop me off at school. The teacher arrived on time and everything went on as scheduled. Finished testing the generators by 2:15. I rode a jeep to Ayala. I caught up with some friends and watched Hot Chick with them. The friends were: Michael Tee, Steven Cinco, Adrian and Jed with his friend Heidi. The movie was so hilarious. One thing common with Rowan Atkinson and Rob Schneider: You'd get a good laugh just by looking at their faces! Bwahahaha.

Met Gail Tochip and Tian-tian outside the movie house. Heidi left early. She had things to do. Went around the mall for a couple of rounds. Tian-tian left to attend to other stuff. Met Leorraine Tala who joined our group in our wanderings around the mall. Gail met up with some friends and she left with them. Jed then left for 5:30 mass at Redemptorist. We then went to Arcada to buy drinks. Met Randy Dy with his friends who happen to be Leorraine's friends too. Small world. Michael and Steven left. So it's now Adrian, Leorraine and I left.

Met Peter, Miat, Benny, Jessie, Stacy and some of their friends. Did not join them, 'coz Leorraine wanted something at McDonald's. She changed her mind later. Adrian left, since his mum was already looking for him. Twas just Leorraine and I. Mum sent me on an errand. Leorraine was nice enough to accompany me to Metro and True Value to buy a telephone modular box and some staple wires for the wire tacker. Leorraine then left, since her mum was already at Metro waiting for her. I went back to our store to hand to my mum the goods I bought. Went to AVSurfer and helped the attendant there, who happens to be my friend, edit is resume. His resume had a lot of typos, so I volunteered to make it look more professional and persuasive.

Left Ayala for SM. Went there to buy some candles mum plans to use for our store on Valentines Day. Okay... I could say that our store has the ambiance for occasions such as... ahem. Went to Patio Isabel, but the place was so full, so we went to Cafe Georg to have dinner. Dinners at Cafe Georg are always great.

I'm now home after eating like a piggy. The house is empty 'coz everybody's having an overnight stay at Shangri-La courtesy of my Aunt Felisa Etemadi. We chose not to stay overnight, since we were too busy today to pack our stuff. Besides, it was just two weeks ago that we paid the place a visit. We'll be going to Shang tomorrow after hearing mass at City Sports Club. Have to go now. I have laboratory reports to write and a computer program to finish. Good night ya all!

--+--!!!HAPPY BIRTHDAY KAREN!!!--+--

My first class for today would still be at 12:30, but I was in school by 7. My groupmates and I performed our make-up experiment at around 8. Finished by 9:30, so I went to the canteen. Joy and Mary Ann were at the canteen. Made tambay for a while and we all went to Ila Puti to have lunch. Jed was with us too. While we were busy eating and chit chatting, suddenly an unexpected figure entered the store. Guess who??? Shaun Dy came in and suddenly engaged in a conversation with all of us. He usually does that... intrude and just talk to any familiar face. Jed kept on teasing me that Shaun and I are best friends. Not! Doesn't mean that since I'm friendly towards the guy I am already chummy chummy with him. I know the guy's got a problem up there, so the least I could do is be nice. Mean Jed, mean.

We went back to TC canteen. Stephanie, Marie, Angela and Wendy sat on different tables and looked very serious. They were busy studying for an exam. Saw Maia, Michael Tee and Patrick in the canteen. Talked to Patrick for a while and attended my 12:30 class as well as my 1:30 laboratory class. I volunteered first for the oral defense. Aced it and left extra early. Helped some council members put up a bulletin board. Went back to the canteen where Edwin and Pandi were there. Naughty Pandi placed shredded pieces of paper under my shirt. Ran after him and did the same. Bwahahaha... Like kids in gradeschool. Hehehe. Adrian and I decided to blog. The TAP TC was full, so we went to TAP Pharma. So here we are posting blogs with Edwin looking on. Melvs, your cousin just checked your site out.

Anyway, that's all for now. it's raining outside and still have a CompE Council meeting to attend to. Take care and Happy Birthday again to Karen.

Thursday, February 06, 2003

Early this morning, I found myself memorizing lots of dates for my HIST17 exam. None of the 15 dates I memorized ever came out in the exam. Too bad, but with the thorough studying I did, I aced exam with 20 items for identification and 3 essay questions. Studying does pay off in the end. My 10:30 class was an empty room. Our teacher was a speaker in the Career Reassessment Program conducted by the school for us students. I met Maia, Apple Pay and Meling in the AVR. They were participating in the program too. It was a program for the sophies and being the senior that I am, well I did not belong there. I went to the canteen, since it was quite warm in the AVR. The airconditioning system couldnt handle the load of so many students and faculty members. Joy, Mary Ann and Peter were in the canteen. Joy went for their classes and Mary Ann and I had lunch along with Edwin, who was studying on the table beside us. The canteen was pretty vacant, so Ann and I decided to play Starcraft. We were on one team against 4 computer players. Obviously, no computer player beats our terran-protoss tactics. Bwahahaha.

Our TTh basketball games did not push through today. People had other things to attend to. Dropped Joy and Ann to their chemistry classes. Met Michelle on the way and had to say sorry for greeting her Happy Birthday yesterday. My mind got confused. Her birthday was not on Feb. 5. It will still be on the fifth of March. Hehehe Well, that was one veeeeery advanced greeting. I went back to the canteen. Saw Jessie and Disney playing chess and dama, so I joined in their game. Disney plays chess very well. Playing with him was like playing against Kasparov or that Deep Blue computer. Patrick was watching us play.

Had to borrow Bennys battery. My phone went dead and I had to call home so I could be fetched. The car wasnt home, so I took a cab instead. Composed an email for Stephanie for 2 hours. Tried to organize my thoughts and wrote the things that came out in my mind. Just sent it, and Im off to a party my Uncle Henry is throwing for our visiting Australian relatives. Enjoy your dinner!

Wednesday, February 05, 2003

Today was a very simple, but busy day. Went to school at 7 to perform a make-up experiment. My groupmembers woke up so late, so they decided to move it to Friday. So I was stuck again at the canteen doing nothing. Met Joy and Mary Ann and I accompanied them to watch an inter-highschool quiz bowl held at the TC-AVR. Only 2 teams fought head to head. They were USP and STC. SHS-J participants were not able to join, since the school sent the participants to a more prestigious quiz bowl. I think my former alma mater did the right thing. The quizbowl at USC sucked a lot. Even the emcee/quizmaster had no command of the English language. The contestants themselves had difficulty understanding the questions. Another one of those low-budget, half-baked programs of the school. STC sent 4th year students, while USP sent 2nd year students. Obviously, STC won. No challenge.

At around 9:30, the three of us then talked to Marie to clear a lot of things. Got a lot of inputs from the talk. Thanks a lot, Joy, Mary Ann and Marie. I guess I have decided that theres only one thing left to do. That is talk to the person herself. Ill prolly schedule a meeting first thing next week. My schedule is tight this week.

Talked to Walter about a problem of his. Tried to solve it in my own little way by giving him good advice, but its up to him to make the necessary decisions, coz its only him who can straighten things out with someone else. Problems like his have numbed my heart already. As what Maia would put it, Like I care! Hehehe. I attended my 12:30 class afterwards. The teacher gave it as a free period for us to work on our project. We told the teacher that well go ahead and just work it in my house. The teacher was okay with it. A groupmate of ours is a working scholar, so we had to wait for her to log-out at 1:00. While waiting, I went to the canteen to mingle with some canteen folks. Adrian, Michael Tee, Stephanie, Marie, Angela and Wendy were there. Finally, Adrian has proven that his new years resolution is taking effect. He finished eating ahead of Wendy. Hehehe No longer the slow-eater that he used to be. Left school at 1:00 for home.

I rode on my groupmates car and we all arrived at my house. Served juice and popcorn. This house lacks food worthy to serve for guests. I usually have to cook a new batch of fries or some chicheria, but in this case the project really needed my undivided attention, so quick fix popcorn had to do. All 5 of us were busy doing our Computer Engineering project. I was busy typing the codes and doing the analysis of the project structure. Some did the animation design, while others did the calculations. A whole weeks job was done in 4 hours. These groupmates of mine are one of the best and most efficient groupmates Ive ever worked with. The projects now done and my friends here are just busy talking about V-day their past relationships, tips on courtship, etc. Hehehe Feb 14 certainly has its effects on certain people. Some tend to be anxious about beingin a firing squad. HahahaQP??? While some just wanna reminisce what they did in last years V-day and plan to do away with all the festivities and make the day pass like some ordinary day. I guess Ill be busy on that day with my schoolwork. Something to get me off from unnecessary stress. Besides, it would be fun to hang out with single friends on that day. Did that last year and it was definitely a wonderful experience. Last year, the guys and gals in my other barkada whom I hang out with proved somethingthat its fun to be single. Maybe this year will be the same.

With the project now done, I decided to take some time off and what better way to relax than BLOG! Blogging has become a pastime for me. Its as good as sleep. Till here peeps, just wanna keep it plain and simple.

I was shocked to see hate tags on Karen, Melvs and She^s sites. I really wasnt able to see them in their respective sites, but I was able to access them through a link Karen posted. The comments were really harsh, demeaning and malicious. I definitely condemn such acts and would like to request the person behind the mask to quit making fuss if he/she has nothing better to do. I certainly do not allow such posts in my tagboard. If they do come, I just ignore them and delete through Tag-Boards administrative controls. Simple as that! I ask Karen, Milvic and Sheryl to do the same at Flooble. Its no use hunting down big bullies like them. It would be pointless to make such a big fuss over nonsense stuff made by mean people. Making more waves about them would just feed their cause. Let them die, as flames ought to. I wouldnt wanna waste my precious time in doing some CIA work on people who mean NOTHING to me. To haters: Sorry na lang pero di ko kayo papatulin.

On to my day. My HIST17 class was pretty boring. In class, I was just busy perusing through a newly published copy of our school paper. The articles contained issues that caused so much fuss over petty matters really. I wonder whats wrong with people nowadays. Prolly people are running out of things to do. After my class, I found myself back at my pad with Maia, Vanessa, Apple Pay, Blanche, Joy and Mary Ann. I talked to Joy about stuff from yesterdays Private Conversations with **r**. The info that was given to me yesterday conflicted with that of Joy, so now I know who has not been a very good girl. *Tsk Tsk Tsk. Im so frustrated that some people cant be honest infront of me, no matter how sincere they may seem. Its good to know there are others who are still so loyal.

I attended my 10:30 class. The teacher held classes for 30 minutes onlyone third of how long it should be. Our teacher just distributed our midterm papers and I got an ACE. Wheee Our teacher did not discuss a new lesson, since his voice was hoarse from having sore throat. Ann, Adrian and I then had lunch at Quick Cooks, a restaurant across the school owned by my Tita Jing. My tita was there and they offered us very good service (we felt so pampered) and their sizzling sisig was great.

We went back to TC. Adrian and I joined up with Peter, Disney, Jessie, Edison and Lito. We all went to Peters house to shoot some hoops. It has been part of our regular TTh routine. Played 3 games. San-san and Jong-Jong arrived. We played one very serious game. The other team won. Just one point above ours. Adrian played well with his lay-ups, Peter with his drives to the basket, Disneys consistent shots, Edisons rebounds, Jessies THIEF trademark, Litos towering Yao Ming maneuvers, and myuhhsucky shots. I scored 3 shots out of ? attempts. I cant count them already. Today was not my day for basketball.

Went back to school in time for our 3:00 classes. I found myself entering into a very empty classroom. Argh! No classes coz who knows where the teacher is again. Im so fed up with my lazy teachers. I oughtta get my money back. So I went to my favorite place in school, THE canteen. Stephanie, Marie, Angela and Wendy were there. Wendy was busy cross-stitching, Marie wascomposing a song, so I sat with Steffy and Angela and we were talking about some morbid stuff about death and the Christians view of it, near-death experiences, prayer, the Book of Revelation, our priorities in life like a happy married life and family, courtship in workplaces how we get kiwaw (a new word Angela taught me) if they go bad, relationship with parents and siblings, etc. They all left at 4:30 for their Prob&Stat class. Bid them goodbye and was keen enough to notice something happen. Wendy couldnt look at me when I said Byebye. I guess she got kiwaw (tagalog: ilang) too. Her friends must have told her what happened. I hope this never-ending crisis will soon draw to an end. I hope the Lord will shine His light on this long and dark tunnel. Its really taking a toll on both of us I should saynot to mention the trouble I have caused my friends who watch hopelessly on this episode. Sorry peeps for all the trouble. I certainly appreciate your understanding very much.

So I was picked up at around 5 and went straight home to relax on my bed. Read a book Steffy lent me. Had dinner and blogged this stuff. This is all for now. Hafta check out Smallville. Everyones hooked on it. Maybe it will capture me too. Hehehe. Good night and may kindness rule in our hearts. Amen.

Monday, February 03, 2003

Something ironic really happened this morning. The university had power failure during my 7:30 Electrical Engineering laboratory class. The teacher asked us to wire some circuits, so that when the power comes back, we could start testing what our circuits ought to do. I had placed so many wires connecting motors, generators, ammeters, voltmeters, rheostats and etc only to find out that when the power came back, the back-up power from the school's generator could not power our experimental circuits. We had to unwire the whole set-up and the teacher decided to dismiss us and she arranged for make-up classes this Saturday afternoon. So there goes my Saturday afternoon.

Went to the canteen afterwards to help Maia, Mitch, Vanessa and Bill stamp the CompE raffle tickets with the university seal. The wind was blowing hard, so we had difficulty flipping through the tickets. After a few minutes, our teamwork finished the job. Anyone wanna buy tickets? It's priced 1 peso per ticket. First prize is one thousand pesos!

I attended my CompE class at 12:30. Our teacher grouped us into 3 and asked us to make a program that would animate characters using the software Assembly. It's going to be a gruelling task. Animation in higher platforms are already difficult. How much more for Assembly, which is a low-level language close to machine language... At least it's going to keep me busy for the week.

Helped Maia solve some Phys32 problems involving magnetic fluxes, fields and forces. Maia, just take note that the angle theta is the angle between the field and the normal (perpendicular) to the conducting surface. Hehehe... I then had a long heart-to-heart talk with Marie. I'm very thankful to the Lord that we got to talking. Thanked her too for being so open to me. Now, we have clarified several misunderstandings. I hope she can explain well my side to her friends. It's important that people are frank about themselves. It gives no room for misunderstanding and false accusations. By being frank and honest, we help others make better judgments of our actions and feelings.

Talked to Mary Ann about some business proposals. Edwin also gave his comments about starting a business. Nothing's certain as for now, since the market nowadays is so unpredictable. I have to ask our store's consultant for some tips on Cebu's market trends. Halo-halo, crepes and pasta anyone?

Met Patrick and talked to him about some concerns. Miat and Mikay were seated next to us enjoying some tempura. Peter stayed awhile and left ahead of us, since it began to drizzle and he had to be on his way home. Miat was picked up by her mom. Mikay had to wait for her sundo and I had to attend my 6:00 ECE class. My ECE teacher gave us a dare for Valentines. To get 10 bonus points, we should be seen wearing something red. To get another 20 points, we should be wearing polo (short or long sleeved will do). What if I wore a suit with a tie, would that be 100 points??? Hahahaha! I'm certainly IN for the dare!
